Our Environmental activities

As BATIÇİM, our aim in cement factory is to produce clinker and cement in accordance with national and international standards and to provide these products with a service approach that is suitable for customer wishes and expectations. AS part of the TS-EN-ISO 14001 certificate received in 2005, we are the general principle of respecting nature and preventing environmental pollution while fulfilling our responsibilities. We are aware that protecting and improving the environment we live in is an integral part of our work and our lives. For this reason, we take maximum care to prevent environmental pollution and to use natural resources in a conscious way. We reduce the resulting wastes at the source, and in any case, we regain these wastes to the economy.

Activities

-Continuous measurement and recording of gas and dust analyzers

-Separation of waste at source and temporary storage plant and equipment

-Energy generation by utilizing waste heat thrown into the atmosphere

-Silencers and galleries to minimize environmental noise

-Vacuum cleaners and plots with the aim of preventing outdoor dust

-Reduction of natural resource consumption using alternative fuels and alternative raw materials

Investing in green technology

In order to provide a more livable world in the future, it is among our priorities to protect the nature and to invest in the latest technology to prevent environmental pollution while we work on this path.

-All electro-filters belonging to the rotary furnaces in the factory were converted into bag filters by investing in 2012, and despite the legal limit of 30 mg/Nm3, the reduction of dust emissions without prior measure was ensured and 1 Production is carried out at mg/Nm3 levels.

Carbon Footprint Reduction

In 2012, 30% of the electrical energy consumed using heat from the production process and the waste heat recovery plant with 9 MW installed power is produced within the plant. For the first time in Turkey, the heat released from the oven coat to the atmosphere is restored with the help of exchangers, and the need for steam and hot water in the social buildings and production facilities are met. In order to reduce fossil fuel consumption, the production of cement produced by adhering to national and international standards increases from year to year.

Waste Management

The waste management system, which has been applied since 2005, is carried out at source reduction, separate collection, recycling and disposal for all hazardous and dangerous wastes. For the disposal of hazardous and dangerous wastes, it is a solution partner in the production facilities in the region and the wastes are brought back to the economy. Non-hazardous wastes that can substitute raw materials are considered alternative raw materials for efficient use of resources by reducing dependence on natural resources.

Aiming at environmental sustainability, our company has been involved as a pilot company in the project "Environmental footprint for the business world" funded by the European Union. The Aegean Forest Foundation has carried out carbon footprint calculations with the project jointly conducted by The Association of Lifelong Learning Vocational education and development and The UK-based The Carbon Trust.

Forestation activities

We are aware that protecting and improving the environment we live in is an integral part of our work and our lives. In addition to environmental rehabilitation of the areas where we operate as a shipwreck, we continuously maintain our environmental activities with the principle of leaving a greener world for future generations. Since 2007, in Belkahve, we have brought about 44.5 hectares (445 thousand m2) of 46 thousand saplings to nature in the field of rehabilitation. We support the establishment of ecological balance in the region with the efforts to re-create the limestone mines that we use in cement production immediately after the end of the activity. By harmonising the current topography of the field with the natural topography, we ensure that the land is re-opened for agricultural and forestry use.
